Michael highly values the deep sense of meaning and purpose he has found in counseling people from a variety of backgrounds and world-views. His specific interests and training have revolved around the intersections of Biblical Christianity and performance excellence, though his experience in counseling extends well beyond.
As a performance consultant, Michael is versed in applying mental skills training and psychotherapy to sport and performance contexts. Common concerns addressed include: motivation, confidence, focus, resiliency, visualization, and composure.
Through his experience as a mental health therapist, Michael also offers expertise in the areas of eating disorders, interpersonal conflict, anger, anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, substance abuse, transition, healthy coping skill development, goal achievement, overall wellbeing and more.
Prior to joining the team at Denver Counseling and Coaching, Michael earned a BA in Psychology from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. He also holds a Masters Degree in Sport and Performance Psychology from the University of Denver and is a registered psychotherapist with the state of Colorado, in process toward full licensure. Much of Michael's professional experience to date has come from working as a therapist for people with eating disorders and the complexity of related issues. He is excited to now be joining DCC in their mission to serve people looking for healing, freedom, and significance in the city of Denver.
